My Family’s/Husband’s Favorite Green Smoothie

Let’s be real for a moment. Most of the time I enjoy eating leafy greens and vegetables, but there are times that I just don’t feel like it, but I know I should because my body needs them to function properly. Also, just because I enjoy eating leafy greens and vegetables doesn’t mean everyone else does. My two favorite people in my house are not green leafy vegetable eaters so that means I’ve had to get creative with how I spoil them with healthy foods. Green leafy vegetables are packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are also essential for a healthy digestive system.

One fun way I incorporate greens into our daily lives is through green smoothies. Here is one of our favorite green smoothie recipe:

10 oz. of water

12 oz. organic apple juice

4 handfuls of spinach

1 avocado

2 bananas

2 oz. NingXia Red (optional)

1 scoop of Collagen Powder (optional)

Organic Chia Seeds or Flax meal (optional)

Fill remainder of blender with frozen fruit (pineapple, strawberries, mango, peaches, berries)

I use a large Ninja Blender. This recipe makes 4 large smoothies. I put the extra in the refrigerator and whala, it’s ready to go for the next day.

Tip: Add water, apple juice and spinach and blend before adding remaining ingredients. This will make sure the spinach is blended really well and they won’t even know it’s in their drink besides the green color.
